In 1950s Morocco, Alice unexpectedly runs into her estranged friend Lucy, and while this is initially a blessing - with Lucy helping Alice overcome a spate of culture shock - the difficulties Lucy posed soon resurface. Optioned by George Clooney with Scarlett Johansson to star, this is a worthy successor to the likes of Daphne du Maurier and Patricia Highsmith.
