Essential Thermodynamics: An Undergraduate Textbook for Chemical Engineers, Paperback/Athanassios Z. Panagiotopoulos
This textbook covers basic principles of equilibrium behavior for systems of interest to chemical engineering, including elementary microscopic concepts. A strong emphasis is placed on fundamentals: energy conservation in open and closed systems (first law), temperature, entropy and reversibility (second law), fundamental equations, and criteria for equilibrium and stability. These concepts are then applied to the analysis of energy conversion processes, mixing, phase equilibria, and chemical reactions. About the Author: The author is the Susan Dod Brown Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Princeton University and has been teaching thermodynamics for the past 30 years. He received his PhD from MIT and his undergraduate degree from the National Technical University of Athens. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
