In a new preface Rabinow considers the thirty-year life of this remarkable book and his own distinguished career. About the Author: Paul Rabinow is Professor of Anthropology at University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of many books, including, most recently, A Machine to Make a Future: Biotech Chronicles, with Talia Dan-Cohen (2004).
